Riley DeVos-Mars
Riley purchased her first show dog, a Cairn Terrier, while in middle school. Riley and Zach (Multi Group Winning CH. Paragon's Stately Affair CD RN CGC) had a successful career together in conformation, Junior Showmanship, and even ventured into obedience. During this time, Riley worked for AKC professional handler, Laura Reeves of the Scotia German Wirehaired Pointers, and was able to learn to proper grooming, presentation, and care of many breeds, especially in the Sporting Group. She was able to spectate at field trials during this time as well and fell in love with the versatile hunting breeds. Laura always preached that "life is too short to hunt over an ugly dog".
Lance Mars
Lance grew up on a farm in Iowa. He loved hunting from a very young age and grew up with Labrador Retrievers and a Golden Retriever. In 2011, he decided to look into versatile hunting dog and received his German Shorthaired Pointer from field trial lines.
Currently
Lance and Riley knew that their lives would involve dogs. They were entrusted with their first Rottweiler shortly after being married and bred two litters, resulting in multiple puppies that went on to earn their AKC Championships and obedience/rally titles. After being mentored by Laura for several years, they decided that their passion was German Wirehaired Pointers and received their first GWP from The Scotia Kennel in 2014. Riley continues to compete in AKC/NAVHDA events and is an AKC Junior Showmanship judge. Lance enjoys hunting over the dogs every chance he gets. Laura has since retired from breeding to focus on being on being an AKC judge and host of PureDogTalk podcast. We are honored to carry on the legacy The Scotia Kennel has started in GWP.
